Combi boiler installation in Kingston upon Thames for flats and family homes. A combi heats water on demand, so the cylinder and loft tank go, freeing up space. We check your mains pressure first to be sure it suits.
A combi heats water as it flows through, rather than storing it. Turn a tap and the boiler fires. There is no cylinder to keep warm and no tank in the loft, which saves space and stops you running out of hot water on a busy morning.
More Information
A combi depends entirely on your incoming mains supply. If the flow rate is low, the shower will disappoint no matter which boiler you buy. We measure the flow at the kitchen tap before recommending one, and say plainly if a combi is the wrong fit.
Converting means removing the cylinder, the loft tank and the old pipework, then reworking the controls. It takes about two days and frees up an airing cupboard. Worth knowing: some older radiator systems need balancing afterwards to run properly on the new pressure.
Combi installs make up a large share of our work in Kingston upon Thames, particularly in flats and smaller houses where cupboard space is worth having back. STILL NOT SURE?
A combi suits homes with one bathroom and reasonable mains pressure, which covers most flats and smaller houses. With two bathrooms in regular use at the same time, or weak mains flow, a system boiler with a cylinder usually gives a better result.
A straight combi swap takes about a day. Converting from a cylinder system takes two, because the cylinder, tank and old pipework have to come out and the controls need reworking. We confirm the timing in the quote.
Not comfortably. A combi splits one flow of hot water between outlets, so two showers at once means less pressure at each. Homes that regularly need two at the same time are better served by a system boiler with a hot water cylinder.
